IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 67
And another leader change! Charlie Dalin FRA ('Apivia') reclaimed rank one and is now 19nm ahead of Louis Burton FRA ('Bureau Vallée 2') this morning UTC. Two weeks ago, Burton had to make a repair stop in the lee of the Macquarie Islands, and now he is back sailing for victory after a brilliant recovery .... we are in week 67, and the race lasts three more weeks only! ----- 37nm behind, the long-time leader Yannick Bestaven FRA ('Maître Coq') still remains a top challenger. However, sailing on the most westerly course, he is likely to lose further distance as the trade winds shift to the right. In pole position for the expected shifts seems to be Damien Seguin FRA ('Groupe Apicil') on the 5th position 58nm back all the way in the East. ----- Alan Roura SUI ('La Fabrique') on rank 15 follows 2143nm behind the leader. ----- With Stéphane Diraison FRA, Didac Costa ESP, and Kojiro Shiraishi JPN, the ranks 18-20 have passed Cape Horn tonight. Next up to round tomorrow is Manuel Cousin FRA ('Groupe Setin'). ----- The race tracker and the reports (eng./franz).ng./franz)[/URL].
