IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 61
Yannick Bestaven FRA ('Maître Coq') pulls away! After being the first to leave the slack high-pressure area behind yesterday, Bestaven extended his lead to 435nm, the largest advantage achieved so far in this race. The first pursuers Charlie Dalin FRA ('Apivia') and Thomas Ruyant FRA ('LinkedOut') are only 14nm apart. Damien Seguin FRA ('Groupe Apicil') now in 4th is approaching from the south, and it remains to be seen if he can catch up with the chasing duo. During the past night, Pip Hare GBR ('Medallia'), slowed down by a damaged rudder, was replaced on rank 15 by Alan Roura SUI (La Fabrique) with a backlog of 2478nm on the leader. He should reach Cape Horn on Monday. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
