IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 29
A storm depression in the south provoked the first half of the fleet to opt for a more northerly course on the Indian Ocean to avoid the worst. ----- Charlie Dalin FRA ('Apivia') remains in the lead 188nm ahead of Louis Burton FRA ('Bureau La Vallée'), sailing the Vendée winning boat of 2016 (François Gabart FRA). For 2 days now, he has been handicapped by a defective autopilot and the windy conditions have prevented him so far from making repairs. ----- Thomas Ruyant FRA ('LinkedOut') follows closely 10nm behind. ----- Damien Séguin FRA ('Groupe Apicil'), still the first non-foiler, moved up to 4th with a 300nm backlog. ----- The best-ranked woman Isabelle Joschke FRA/GER ('MACSF') follows in 9th place 606nm back. ----- Alan Roura SUI passed the Cape of Good Hope this morning as 14th. The Swiss, very lucky with the weather conditions around him, will be slowed down again today by the calms of a high-pressure cell. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
