Optimist - European Championship 2020 - Portoroz SLO - Final results - Championship abandoned due to Corona, the Swiss

A thick fog made racing at the Optimist Europeans in Slovenia very difficult yesterday. The Gold and Silver fleets completed only one race .... the very last of the event, as the Championship was abandoned prematurely due to the aggravated Corona restrictions across Europe. ----- In the duel for the Boys title between the tied Adriano Cardi ITA and Weka Bhanubandh THA, both sailed a discard result, which nevertheless allowed to break the tie. Both had exactly the same qualification race results, and the 42nd place in the only Final race decided in favor of Banubandh THA, as Cardi ITA finished two ranks back on 44th. Excellent the Swiss with the day ranks 2, 4, 8, and 9, realizing the best results at Europeans of all times: Damian Berther SUI finished 8th, Simon Mille SUI 9th, and Ikke Huber SUI 10th. Lars Dittel SUI followed on rank 11, Arnaud Leimgruber SUI 29th! ----- No change on the podium of the Girls: Rebecca Geiger ITA earned the title ahead of Lisa Vucetti ITA and Ewa Lewandowska POL. Shari Carrara SUI finished 12th, Morgan Mazuay SUI 13th, Shana Burger SUI 18th, and Lynn-Moana Niederhauser SUI 19th. ----- The results, the event website (not yet updated this morning UTC) and the video of the day.
