After some delays, the first races of the 2018 Miami Olympic Classes Worldcup Regatta were started on Biscayne Bay in light and fickle winds yesterday. The RS:X, Laser Radials and Finns remained without results.
The 470s completed one race and the Japanese proved to be the specialists in these conditions. In the 470 men, Naoki Ichino/Hasegawa Takashi JPN finished first ahead of Luke Patience/Chris Grube GBR, in the 470 women, Ai Kondo/Miho Yoshioka JPN are in the lead ahead of Yahel Wallach/Shahar Tibi ISR.
In the 49ers, Sime Fantela/Mihovil Fantela CRO moved on top with the ranks 1 and 5 with a 2 points' advantage on Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP. In the 49erFX, the experienced teams are already in front with Ragna und Maia Agerup NOR leading ahead of Victoria Jurczok/Anika Lorenz GER.
Longtime class dominators are on top in the Nacras 17 with Thomas Czajak/Barbara Matz AUT 1st and Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS 2nd.
Japanese lead also in the RS:X women windsurfers with Fujiko Onishi JPN, winning the only race ahead of Nora Geller ISR.
