IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Les Sables d'Olonne FRA the Women
Six women are among the 33 participants of the Vendée Globe 2020/1. ----- With her fourth start, Samantha Davis GBR is among the most experienced skippers. Although her Open 60 is already 10-year old, the British sailor is a favorite for a top finish. Her 'Initiatives Coeur' occupied rank 3 at the last Vendée with Jérémy Beyou FRA, and was among the best during the preparation races in the past months. ----- Good chances has also the two-passport-holder Isabelle Joschke GER/FRA. Preparing her first solo round-the-world race, her results in the tune-ups were promising. She will be sailing an elder Open 60, but updated with foils. ----- The young Clarisse Cremer FRA, a Vendée rookie as well, finished 2nd at the Mini-Transat three years ago. Her Open 60 belonged to the Vendée 2012/13 winner François Gabart FRA, and has also been beefed up with foils. ----- The Race Village at the Sables d'Olonne harbor has meanwhile been shut down, and it is now quiet along the shores in the Corona pandemic mode. The start to the race however will take place in 9 days according to program.
