Class 40 - Défi Atlantique - Leg 1 - Day 5

Aymeric Chappellier FRA and his team extended their lead on 57nm. Kito De Pavant FTA/Alex Pella ESP defended the 2nd place followed by Catherine Pourre FRA and her team 9nm behind. Speeds of up to 20kn were reached in the southerly rear winds under spinacker at the West-East Transatlantic Race in the past 24 hours, but these conditions will not last for long as the influence of the Acores Anticylone is more and more evident. For the final approach of leg one however, a fresh Eastwind will force the teams into a rough upwind battle.
