Maxi-Trimaran - Ultimed - Nice FRA - Day 1

The three Maxi-Trimarans departed yesterday noon in Nizza FRA in very light winds to their 1000-mile-round on the Mediterranean Sea, trailing slowly along the Côte d'Azur direction Marseille. Nonetheless, Yves Le Blevec FRA damaged the rig of his 'Actual' and was forced to abandon the race very early. In a video, Yves Le Blevec explains the details. The arch-rivals Thomas Coville FRA (Sodebo') and Francis Joyon FRA ('IDEC') continue now the race in a matchrace mode. Both rounded meanwhile the way mark off Marseille in a freshening Mistral and are now chasing at high speeds above 30kn direction Sardinia. Thomas Coville is 27nm head of Francis Joyon FRA.
