Olympic Classes Trofeo Princesa Sofia Palma ESP Day 5 4 Swiss in today's Medal Races !
The Final Series for the Medal Races were concluded yesterday on Palma Bay with four Swiss qualified for the top-10. Only Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI in the 470 women still have a chance for a Medal, theoretically even Gold, as their backlog as 4th is 15 points on the leader at the start to the double-points-no-discard Medal Race. Also on the excellent 4th place is Nils Theuninck SUI in the Finns, but with an 18 points deficit on rank 3, he will remain out of the podium. He will have to defend his rank against five experienced top Finn sailor following closely behind. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI, more and more solid contenders for the Medal Race, are on rank 9 in the 49ers. Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI is on rank 10 in the RS:X men windsurfers.
For the other Swiss participants, the Trofeo did come to an end. Maud Jayet SUI, with little prepartion because of study priorities, had a few top race finishes, but also some downers and finished 24th in the 113 boats' fleet. Andrea Nordquist SUI finished 62nd. In the high-qualitiy Laser Standard fleet, Eliot Merceron SUI progressed from race to race and finished 28th among ht 181 starters. Nicolas Rolaz SUI, the only Swiss in the Silverfleet, terminated on rank 117. In the 470 men, Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI are on rank 22, Livia Naef/Nelia Puhze SUI in the 49ers 41st.
