The three Ultime-Trimarans leading the fleet are chasing at high speeds - averge 25 kn - direction New York and have already covered more than half of the distance. François Gabart FRA on his 'Macif' was 60 miles ahead of Thomas Coville FRA ('Sodebo') this morning. In the Multi-50 Trimarans, the advantage of the leading Lalou Roucayrol FRA ('Arkema') is already 143 miles. The two monohull classes have chosen a northerly route and encounter favorable, but partly stormy West winds. Armel Le Cléac'h FRA ('Banque Populaire') lead in the Open 60 this morning with a 35 miles' advantage on Vincent Riou FRA ('PRB'). The Class 40 spent a stormy night with winds around 45 kn. New on top is Phil Sharp GBR, but the new 2nd-ranked Isabelle Joschke GER/FRA is only 15 miles behind.
