In 2006, Boris Herrmann GER from Hamburg was the runner-up in the 5o5 European Championship before changing to offshore racing. Starting on a Mini 650 - rank 11 in the Mini-Transat 2009 -, he switched to the Open 60, where he finished 5th at the Barcelona World Race 2011. ----- He will start to the Vendée with his 5-year-old 'Seaexplorer' beefed up with foils, a competitive boats making him a candidate for a top-10 finish. ----- Thanks to Boris Herrmann, the interest for offshore sailing has reached the German media circles.
