Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Dieppe FRA - Final results

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Dieppe FRA - Final results With the finish of leg 4 in Dieppe FRA, the 50th edition of the Solitaire du Figaro - considered the ‘unofficial world championship’ of solo offshore sailing - came to an end. Eric Peron FRA arrived first with a 40sec advantage on Armel Le Cléac'h FRA.
In the Overall Rankings, Yoann Richomme FRA remained on top 1hr 14min ahead of Gildas Mahé FRA. Anthony Marchand FRA followed as 3rd. This was the second Solitaire victory of Richomme after 2016. Justine Mettraux SUI, two-times Volvo Ocean Race sailor and member of the Sally Barkow USA Magenta Project, finished leg 4 as 33rd. On rank 18 overall, she is the best-ranked woman among the 47 participants, ahead of the Vendée-Globe veterans Jérémy Beyou FRA (rank 20), Loick Peyron FRA (24) or Alain Gautier FRA (30).
The 47 solo skippers on their 36-foot Foiling Figaro 3 have been sailing the 2019 course of over 2,000 miles between Nantes, Kinsale (Ireland), Roscoff and Dieppe, the longest in the races history, single-handed during over 14 days.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Leg 4 - Day 4 With the final arrival in Dieppe FRA this morning UTC, the Figaro 3 Solitaire will be concluded. The Vendée Globe routiniers Armel Le Cléac'h FRA and Yann Eliès FRA are neck and neck ahead in this 4th and last leg of the race. Loïck Peyron FRA follows 0,5nm behind. The boats are sailing within a few miles only and the overall rankings will not change with Yoann Richomme FRA - this morning rank 5 with a 0,7nm backlog - on rank one.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Leg 4 - Day 1 The start to the final Leg 4 of the Figaro Solitaire, leading over 480nm from the Bay of Morlaix FRA to the English South Coast and back to Dieppe FRA was given yesterday. The morning UTC, Wolf Rock at the most southwestern point of England was rounded with Alexis Loison FRA leading ahead of Eric Péron FRA and Jérémy Beyou FRA. Justine Mettraux SUI was 2,5nm behind on rank 30.

Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Baie de Morlaix FRA - Leg 3 - Final results

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Baie de Morlaix FRA - Leg 3 - Final results Yesterday, leg 3 of the Figaro Solitaire ended in Northern Brittany FRA after a difficult race influenced by very variable conditions with light unconstant winds and strong currents. The leading trio Anthony Marchand FRA, Gildas Mahé FRA and Alexis Loison FRA finished 8 hours before the bulk of the fleet and moved obviously considerably forward in the overall rankings. Yoann Richomme FRA remains on top 90min ahead of Gildas Mahé. Alexis Loison FRA on rank 3 is 2h 22min back. The final leg to be started on Saturday will decide on the final outcome.
Justine Mettraux SUI was never really in the race and finished on rank 38, two ranks behind the Vendée Globe winner Armel Le Cléac'h FRA .... As 17th in the overall rankings, she remains the best woman. .

Gildas Mahé FRA is only 0,6nm behind and also Alexis Loison FRA as 3rd with a 5,4nm backlog has chances to win leg 3. Justine Mettraux SUI dropped on rank 41, but the Vendée Globe winners Loïc Peyron FRA and Armand LeCléac'h FRA on 35th ad 36th are only 10nm away.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Baie de Morlaix FRA - Leg 3 - Day 1 Yesterday, 46 of the original 47 solo skippers started to leg 3 of the Figaro 3 Solitaire - 450nm to the English South Coast and back - on Morlaix Bay in Northern Brittany. The light winds and the strong tide current make the course very challenging.
This morning UTC, the fleet was still very close together with Gildas Mahé FRA leading 0,1nm ahead of Pierre Leboucher FRA, and another 0,1nm back Adrien Hardy FRA on 3rd. Justine Mettraux SUI follows on rank 26 with a 2,1nm backlog.

Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Baix de Morlaix FRA - Leg 2 - Final results

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Baix de Morlaix FRA - Leg 2 - Final results After 2 days and 22 hours, Adrien Hardy FRA crossed the finish line of the Figaro Soltaire leg two in Northern Brittany FRA 5 minutes ahead of the leg one winner Yoann Richomme FRA who extended his overall lead to over 2 hours. The Figaro 3 fleet was again closely packed with the ranks 2 to 6 separated by 30 minutes only. Pierre Leboucher FRA and Armel Le Cléac'h FRA followed on the ranks 2 and 3. The best woman Justine Mettraux SUI finished on rank 20 and advanced on the 9th place in the overall rankings, 5 minutes ahead of the Vendée Globe legend Michel Desjoyeaux FRA.
The start to leg 3 will be given on Sunday.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Leg 2 - Day 3 The 41 solo skippers still in the race have been approaching the final way point on the most western point of Brittany this morning UTC, before returning to the port of call off Morlaix FRA. 64nm were left for the leading Yoann Richomme FRA. On rank 2 with a 2,6nm backlog followed Xavier Macaire FRA, another mile back was the Vendée Globe winner Armel Le Cléac'h on 3rd. The race is extremely close as the first 20 are within 10nm only. The best women Justine Mettraux SUI on rank 14 was 8,8nm behind the leader.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Leg 2 - Day 2 The remaining 38 of the originally started 46 Figaro 3 solo skippers have passed the most south-western point of England yesterday and are now chasing along the coast direction Cowes GBR in fresh winds around 35kn. The leg one winner Yoann Richomme FRA had taken the lead this morning UTC, 4nm ahead of Armel Le Cléac'h FRA. Well positioned was again the first woman Justine Mettraux SUI on rank 13. With a 10nm backlog on the leader, she is much ahead of the offshore elite skippers and Vendée Globe winners Michel Desjoyeaux FRA (rank 24), Yann Eliès FRA (rank 26) or Loïck Peyron FRA (rank 27).

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Kinsale IRL - Leg 2 - Start at 17h UTC The start to leg 2 of the Figaro 3 Solitaire, the longest one with 615nm, will be given in Ireland today at 17h UTC. The fleet will probably sail in a close pack as crossing the Irish Sea will not offer too many tactical options. Yoanne Richomme FRA leads overall just one minute ahead of Tom Laperche FRA. The frist 14 are within only one hour.

Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Kinsale IRL - Leg 1 - Final results

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Kinsale IRL - Leg 1 - Final results The finish of the Figaro 3 Solitaire leg 1 in Kingsdale IRL was very close yesterday, as - after five days underway - the advantage of the winner Yoann Richomme FRA on Tom Laperche FRA was only 73 seconds. Pierre Leboucher FRA 3 finished another 2 minutes behind on 3rd. Die Vendée-Globe-Champions moved up in the ranks toward the end of leg 1: Loick Peron FRA finished 6th, Michel Desjoyeaux FRA 8th, Armel Le Cléac'h FRA 11th and Alan Gautier FRA 13th. Just one rank back on 14th followed the first woman Justine Mettraux SUI one hour and 3 minutes behind the winner. 44 of the 47 solo skippers finished leg 1.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Leg 1 - Day 4 The 46 Figaro 3 Solo Skippers will be rounding the Fastnet Rock this morning UTC to veer direction finish of leg 1 in Kingsdale IRL a short distance away. 82nm were left for the leader Pierre Leboucher FRA (former 49er sailor) this morning UTC. Only 0,1nm behind followed Yoann Richomme FRA on 2nd, Tom Laperche FRA on 3rd was 0,4nm back. The best-ranked of the offshore celebrities was Loîck Peyron FRA on rank 7. The best-ranked woman Justine Mettraux SUI advanced on rank 12 with an 8nm backlog on the leader.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Leg 1 - Day 3 Many position changes occurred in the past 24 hours on the course to the Fastnet Rock south of Ireland in the light and unconstant winds. Alain Gautier FRA was the leader this morning 3nm ahead of Pierre Leboucher FRA. Another mile behind followed Armel Le Cléac'h FRA on rank 3. The best-ranked woman Justine Mettraux SUI is now 19th with a 10nm backlog. This morning, the whole fleet is sailing in 16kn northwesterly winds.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Leg 1 - Day 2 Light winds were dominating on the second day of the Figaro 3 Solitaire leg one with a surprising tactical move of the newcomer Henri Lemenicier FRA sneaking up near the coast and taking the lead this morning UTC with a 10nm advantage. Julien Pulve FRA and Anthony Marchand FRA are the first challengers. Justine Mettraux SUI is now on the 30th place with a 21nm backlog.

 Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Nantes FRA - Leg 1 - Day 1 After the start of the 50th edition of the Figaro Solitaire yesterday and the first night, the Figaro 3 fleet has been underway faster than expected and already rounded the southern waypoint off les Sables d'Olonne. Heading North direction Ireland, the closely packed fleet is sailing upwind in northwesterly winds.  Figaro 3 - La Solitaire - Pornichet FRA - Leg 1 -  Start today Today at 15.30 h UTC, the start to the Figaro 3 Solitaire - the traditional four-leg solo offshore race - will be given in Pornichet FRA with 46 skippers, including the Vendée-Globe-winners Michel Désjoyeaux FRA, Alan Gautier FRA and Armel Le Cléac'h FRA. Four women, among them Justine Mettraux SUI are on the entry list. The first leg goes over 500nm to Ireland. The meteo predicts light winds for the hours ahead.
