After an early-morning thunderstorm, the last two Final Series races could be sailed yesterday in the afternoon in a 15-17 kn breeze.
Sime Fantela/Igor Marenic CRO had a great day finishing 1st and 2nd, a preliminary decision as they start to the Medal Race with a considerable 13 points' advance on Paul Snow-Hansen/Daniel Willcox NZL, and 15 points on the defending champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS. The Croats were 470 World Champions in 2009 already before the Australian Olympic Champions started their domination with six Worlds titles in a row. Bouvet/Mion FRA on 4th, 8 points behind Silver, will also play a role in the fight for Medals today.
On pole position in the women's 470s are Camille Lecointre/Hélène Defrance FRA 6 points ahead of the defending champions Lara Vadlau/Jolanta Ogar AUT on rank 2, best of the day yesterday. Only one point behind are the Olympic Champions Jo Aleh/Polly Powrie NZL on 3rd. Theoretical chance for the title have also Huang/Wang on 4th (backlog 12 points) and Oliveira/Barbachan BRA (backlog 14 points).
