Finn - European Championship 2019 - Athens GRE - Final results

 Finn - European Championship 2019 - Athens GRE - Final results Calms over Athens kept the fleet ashore during the whole day and only 10 minutes before the last start deadline, the sail-off for the ranks 11 to 80 could be started. The Medal Race had to be cancelled.
Giles Scott GBR is the 2019 European Champion, another title in his successful career. Andy Maloney NZL and Beresz Zsombor HUN earned Silver and Bronze. Juan Cardona ESP is first in the U23 Junior rankings. In the duel for the remaining two 2020 Olympic nation berths - Norway and Brazil were qualified being in the Medal Race fleet - the USA with Caleb Paine and Greece with Ioannis Mitakis were the lucky ones. Switzerland with Nils Theuninck SUI finished the race on 8th defending rank 11 overall, not only taking the Olympia berth but also the U23 title. However, disqualified having been involved in a collision at a mark, the Swiss dropped on the 22nd place overall, and Bronze in the U23 rankings was all that remained.

Winners in the two races held yesterday after some postponements were Ioannis Mitakis GRE and Jonathan Lobert FRA. Giles Scott GBR remains the overall leader with a 4 point advantage on Andy Maloney NZL. Alican Kaynar TUR moved up on rank 3. The four Olympia 2020 berths at stake go to FRA, NOR, GRE and CRO for the moment. Josip Oluic CRO on rank 14 is now 29 points ahead of Nils Theuninck SUI relegated on rank 26 after a premature start yesterday.
